Tip of the Month – Don’t flush!

Don’t flush you old medications down the toilet – they end up in our environment.

toilet, environment, pharmaceuticals, flush, mood stabilizers, properly dispose

Last year, the AP reported that trace amounts of a wide range of pharmaceuticals — including antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers and sex hormones — have been found in American drinking water supplies.

Where do I properly dispose of my old or expired medications?

The FDA recommends – take advantage of community drug take-back programs that allow the public to bring unused drugs to a central location for proper disposal. Call your city or county government’s household trash and recycling service (see blue pages in phone book) to see if a take-back program is available in your community.
