Take off your shoes when you first enter your home!
Did you know that 87% of the dirt in your home comes from tracked-in soil, allergens, pesticides and other bad toxic are on the bottom of your feet? Now that’s not very clean or healthy for your home. I suggest keeping a pair or two of comfy house slippers by the front door to encourage you or your family members to take off their shoes.
You may want to purchase the slinky Ikea Sandnes shoe cabinet with 4 compartments in either birch or oak veneer for the entrance of your home (if you have hallway space that is) to store most shoes. Or you can create a simple floating shoe landing strip / rack from UK’s j-me.com (it’s stainless steel . . . and very modern looking).
Here are the links to hideaway your incoming shoes:

We keep a cabinet by the door for our shoes and slippers. Nobody gets into our house with shoes on.
We have always taken our shoes off when we get home and change into our slippers. But with a large family its a problem where to put our shoes and slippers. The rack in the photo would be ideal, especially as we also have our guests take their shoes.
