Primary thing that you should keep in mind while cooking for kids is that the food on the table is delicious, and presentable. There are many ways to cook turkey meat; here are few easy, pleasant-tasting and healthy turkey recipes for kids.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Turkey Potpie</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Turkey potpie is one of the most basic potpie recipes, which is easy to prepare and impressive to serve. Here is the way to prepare the popular turkey potpie and you can try it in your own kitchen.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Complexity Level:</strong> easy</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Time Taken:</strong> 1 and 1/2 hours</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Ingredients:</strong></p>
<ol style="text-align: justify;">
<li>2 cups diced potatoes</li>
<li>4 cups cubed cooked turkey</li>
<li>2/3 cup chopped onion</li>
<li>1 cup frozen corn</li>
<li>1 3/4 cups sliced carrots</li>
<li>1 cup butter or margarine</li>
<li>1 teaspoon dried thyme</li>
<li>1 cup all-purpose flour</li>
<li>1/4 teaspoon pepper</li>
<li>1 3/4 teaspoons salt</li>
<li>3 cups turkey broth</li>
<li>1 cup frozen peas</li>
<li>1 1/2 cups milk</li>
<li>1 pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie</li>
</ol>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Process:</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Take 2 cups of peeled and diced potatoes and 1 3/4 cups of carrot and put them in a sauce pan. Pour water in the sauce pan one inch above the vegetable level. Bring the water to boil. Now, decrease the flame and slide a lid on the sauce pan. Cook on simmer for eight to ten minutes. By now, the vegetables in the sauce pan will be soft, so drain the water and keep it aside.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In a large frying pan, fry the onions briefly over high heat and in little butter until tender. Put the thyme, flour, salt and pepper in the pan and mix well. Slowly pour in broth and milk and stir to avoid clumping until the mixture is blended well. Let the mixture boil and cook for two minutes so that it thickens. Add the turkey, potatoes, corn, carrots and peas and then turn off the heat.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Take two nine inch pie plates with bottom pastry. Put turkey mixture in the pastry shells. Take out the extra pastry to fit top of pies. Put over filling; cut, pack and flute edges.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Bake the potpies one by one at 425 degrees F for thirty to forty minutes or till the crust turns light brown. Allow it to rest before slicing or cutting. You can cover and store the left over potpie in a freezer for up to 3 months.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Kosher chicken turkey soup</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Kosher chicken turkey soup is an all time favorite soup that can be served as the first course of any meal. The silken texture and amazing taste have made this soup a pretty popular one. Kosher chicken turkey soup is very nutritious and healthy, as well. It is easy to make and for sure will become one of your favorites once you try it.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Complexity level:</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Easy</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Time taken:</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">2 hours and 30 minutes</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Ingredients:</strong></p>
<ol style="text-align: justify;">
<li>1 large turkey neck, chopped</li>
<li>1 pound of chicken wings, cut into pieces</li>
<li>1 or 2 small parsley roots</li>
<li>2 small onions</li>
<li>2 or 3 carrots</li>
<li>3 celery sticks or roots</li>
<li>3 zucchini</li>
<li>Fresh parsley</li>
<li>Salt and pepper, and some chicken soup powder to taste</li>
</ol>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Process:</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Take a large soup pot and put the chopped turkey neck and the cut chicken wings into it. Fill the pot with water, two inches above the poultry. Slide the cover with a little opening when you are boiling it.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Let the water boil and get rid of any froth by scraping it. Add the remaining ingredients into the pot. Bring the mixture to boil again.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Reduce the heat and slide the cover of the pot a little so that the steam can escape. Let the meat and the vegetables along with other ingredients become soft for two hours on a simmer flame. If the water dries in between add a little more.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Finally, let the soup cool down and then strain it. Add the finely cut vegetables to the soup. Stir the mixture and make sure the soup is smooth.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Boil 4 to 5 cups of water in a wide mouth pan and add 2 pinches of salt to it. Put 3 ounces of dried noodles into the boiling water. Once it is cooked, drain the hot water out and put some cold water to stop the noodles from cooking any further. Drain the water out again. You can use a wide strainer to drain out the extra water. Putting the strainer under cold running water helps stop the noodles from cooking further. Keep aside the boiled noodles. Serve warm.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Slow cooked turkey with Spanish paprika</span></strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The dish can be served with stewed white beans, sautéed garlicky greens, or mashed potatoes. The method you are going to discover right now is an all time favorite because of its distinct flavor. To serve 6 people the recipe is as follows.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Complexity level:</strong> Easy</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Time taken:</strong> approx 2 hours</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Ingredients:</strong></p>
<ol style="text-align: justify;">
<li>3 pounds of boneless turkey</li>
<li>2 teaspoons coriander seeds</li>
<li>2 bay leaves</li>
<li>1 teaspoon cumin seeds</li>
<li>8 cardamom pods</li>
<li>1/4 cup olive oil</li>
<li>2 star anise</li>
<li>1 1/2 teaspoons ground fennel</li>
<li>1 tablespoon smoked Spanish paprika</li>
<li>5 cloves garlic, minced into a paste</li>
<li>2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper</li>
<li>2 tablespoons brown sugar</li>
</ol>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Process:</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Finely grind Coriander seeds, cumin, star anise, bay leaves and cardamom. You will have to grind them in batches to get a fine powder. Add ground fennel to the bowl of already ground spices. In a small dish measure 1/4 cup of olive oil and mix in it salt, brown sugar, ground pepper and garlic. Make a fine paste out.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Mix the spices and the paste properly and rubbed all over the turkey roast. Make sure that you rub the mixture on the top and bottom of the roast.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The oven should be heated to 450 degrees in advance. Next step should be to place the oven rack in the center of the oven.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Oil the roasting pan with little amount of olive oil. Put the roast in a rack in a roasting pan. While placing the roast in the pan, be sure that you put the fat side on the top. Now you should be ready with an oven preheated to 450 degrees. Put the roast into the oven.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">This high temperature is suggested as it gives a tempting golden color to the roast. Put the timer in the oven for ten minutes. After ten minutes, reset the temperature of the oven to 250 degrees. Next what you are supposed to do is to cook the turkey preparation for 50 to 80 minutes. By this time the meat should register 150 degrees on the meat thermometer. The thermometer should be placed in the thickest part of the meat and then allowed to rest for at least five minutes.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The next step in the preparation is to take out the roast from the oven and place it on a cutting board. You should cover the meat with a tin foil for next fifteen minutes. This will allow the temperature to rise for about another five degrees. Now you can slice the slow cooked turkey with a sharp knife. Here you go, ready to serve the delicious slow-cooked turkey with Spanish paprika and sweet spices. It is delicious and can be prepared all round the year at any occasion. Try the recipe yourself and enjoy cooking.</p>

<p>So this year, when goose was to be the holiday meal, I reached out to friends for help.  The best advice came from Jerry and Barbara.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><em>I&#8217;ve cooked goose a few times, it&#8217;s not hard, but one has to start with a good recipe and monitor the thing. The usual question is &#8220;to prick or not to prick?&#8221; I&#8217;m talking about the skin, of course. If it&#8217;s yes, you use a sharp needle and prick the skin all over the bird before roasting, being careful not to put the needle into the meat. Then, as the goose cooks, one has to remove the rendered fat with a bulb baster as it builds up in the pan. This is necessary with or without pricking. Filter the liquid fat through cheese cloth and you&#8217;ll have the world&#8217;s best cooking fat. Overcooking goose is worse than undercooking because the meat gets stringy. Tomorrow I&#8217;ll dig up a couple of recipes just for time and temp. Let me know if you&#8217;re stuffing the bird. i don&#8217;t know how big your party is, but pound for pound goose yields far less meat than other poultry. I&#8217;m getting hungry. </em></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><em>Two strategies: hot start or consistent temp. If you go for consistent heat, it&#8217;s 325 degrees, 16 minutes per pound. No pricking, no basting. Or you can start hotter, say 425 for a half hour and then lower the temp to 325 or 350. Probably should prick the skin if using the latter method. Baste every half hour. Cooking time will be shorter for the hot start method, about 2 &amp;1/4 hours for a ten pound goose. Bird is done when a leg moves easily in its socket and juice from the thigh runs clear. If you use an instant read thermometer the thickest part of the thigh should be at 175 degrees or so. Again, the worst thing you can do is overcook it, so be sure to start checking for doneness early. Also let it rest under foil for fifteen minutes or so before carving.  </em></p>
