A beautiful flower arrangement on the center table is always a pleasure to look at. The scent of the flowers are so invigorating that it affects your senses. It’s a welcome sight from the humdrum of Singapore office to lease . The variety of colors helps brighten your mood and no matter how bad your day in the office or how bad is the weather outside, the flower arrangement is a sight to behold. This article illustrates a simple and cost-effective method in making a beautiful flower arrangement so you can create the same effect in your house. You can turn your Singapore property home into a beautiful and tasteful designer home without breaking your budget.

Ever since I started putting fresh flowers in my living room, the house has a different aura. It has taken a much livelier mood. Flower arrangements brighten up living room area and it makes a lot of difference as you enter the door and it’s the first thing you see with your eyes. The good thing is you can do it with just five dollars in your purse. Impossible? Wait till you read this two steps .

Step #1: Get single stalk flowers from a florist

Instead of buying a bouquet or bunch of flowers, select a single stalks with many blooms. Pom Poms make a great choice because there are many blooms on one stalk and they come in a variety of colours. Allot five dollars and buy flowers with many blooms . It will look good in your floral arrangement . Most important, you choose flowers that are attractive and can easily catch one’s attention .

Try to keep your choice simple . Choose either two different types of flowers or the same flower in two different colors.

Step #2: Accessorize your arrangement with leaves from your garden

You can get leaves from the florist if your budget allows. However, if you want to economize, you get leaves for your flower arrangement in your garden. Use larger leaves like Monstera Deliciosa for a beautiful layering effect. Split the leaves and trim the bottom leaves. Then you adjust its height according to the flowers you have selected. A big leaf will add contrast to your flower arrangement, making it more unique and eye-catching.

If you don’t have a garden, get leaves from the neighborhood. Just don’t forget to ask their permission.

There is a misconception that beautiful flower arrangements are expensive. They are wrong! All you need is to stick to your budget and use a bit of creativity. Consider this step to create an elegant flower arrangement that will give your house that designer look in your home.

Now, all you have to do is ask yourself if you have the gift of creativity to make your flower looks good on top of your table.

Deciding on a way to make topsoil better can depend on the existing quality of the topsoil, however, there are several ways to do this.

Soil balance is a useful way for garden keepers to learn about the workings of their topsoil and therefore to be able to improve it. Topsoil balance is a way of understanding the physics and chemistry of the soil. It includes understanding topsoil physics, chemistry and biology which help to make sure that the topsoil’s structure, nutrients and biology are all balanced perfectly.

One system that ensures topsoil balance is correct is known as the Mikhail system. This system of topsoil balancing focuses firstly on the soil’s structure which enables good arability and topsoil composition so that living organisms can flourish. Topsoil is a little like the body of humans which needs a skeleton on which its other body components can be attached. Potassium, Hydrogen, Magnesium, Sodium and Calcium are all essential elements in good healthy Topsoil.

The balance between biology and nutrients are maintained through use of the Mikhail system as well. Balancing the structure is then important. Plant life needs the following vital elements for nutrition; Potassium, Sulfur, Nitrogen and Phosphorous. Fertilizers can be added to provide a needed nutrient boost once the topsoil structure has been improved. NPK is one of the most well-known fertilizers available and it can be found in almost all general garden fertilizers. Trace elements are also important to topsoil.

One way to find out where topsoil is failing in terms of make-up is by testing it. This can be done using testing kits for soil, which will provide the necessary information for the gardener. All that’s then required is to purchase and administer the necessary fertilizer, add soil improving materials and lime to the soil, as and when the tests suggest.

Living in a extremely dry area of Australia, I am actually very happy to see every one of the ants coming within the home as this means we are in for lots of rain. Trouble is, leave any trace of food around and it’s covered in ants in seconds. The dog/cat dishes have to become emptied and cleaned straight after feeding and make positive the kids don’t leave the honey or cordial out!

The problem lies when the ant problem becomes an infestation and they start taking over the residence. Then we have to do some thing to fix the trouble.

There is no point in just killing the ants it is possible to see, this is really only about 1% from the whole colony and when they do not appear residence towards the nest much more ants are automatically sent out.
The ideal situation is to find the primary nest where the queens and every one of the other ants are and eradicate the entire colony with liquid bait.

You can try following the ant trail back again for the principal colony but this really is near impossible as the trail may possibly go behind skirting boards, along the inside with the walls and out somewhere at the other end with the house

The most efficient treatment for homeowners is always to bait the ants which are within the residence. The advantage of making use of Baits could be the ants will take the poison back again for the nest, the queen and the rest with the colony will feed on the bait as well as the entire colony will be destroyed.

Place the bait at various points along the trail the ants have been using. You should see heaps of ants scurrying towards the bait. Usually do not kill them, just let them feed and you’ll see them leaving to go back again to the nest, that is good!
The ant activity should subside within a few days. Maintain topping up the bait until no much more ants are seen.

Okay, you’ve put down bait but the ants are ignoring it! Would you believe that ants are fussy eaters and can alter their eating habits at various times of the year. It does not mean the bait is no great, just that the ants are trying to find another type of foods source, so try another bait for instance liquid bait.

The above baiting remedy will solve your indoor problem but if you might have heaps of ants outside they will eventually appear back again indoor searching for foods or water.
Consequently you ought to be treating both the house and backyard for ants.

Base – For effective ant control, you must spray the outside basis of the house with an Insecticide repellant. A guide for spraying would be two foot up by 1 foot out, every one of the way close to the base. Also treat the Windowsills, Door trims, Pipes, Cables and Pathways.
This ought to be carried out on a regular basis, possibly every quarter.

Backyard – Treating the yard. The very best solution for treating the lawn is always to use both Granules and liquid bait. Granules will last approximately 2-3 months. Liquid baits evaporate and must be topped up on a regular basis, specifically if you live inside a hot dry climate. Check frequently to make sure they have not dried up..

To recap, Gel Bait for Indoors, Sprays for the Base, Granules and Liquid Bait for outdoors. This will solve all your ant problems if repeated regularly.

It is a fact that maintaining an artificial Christmas tree is something that is not very hard to do. The logic is simple; you don’t have to keep checking if the base of the tree has already run out of water, if you use the artificial ones. Since these are made of plastic, artificial Christmas trees do not fade or go brown. Yet, you still need to make some effort on your part to maintain cleanliness at all times. If you just take this chore for granted, some issues could come up later.

The first time that you take the Christmas tree out of its box for assembly is actually the very first time that you begin maintaining it. You may need to use a vacuum cleaner to remove the dust that may have settled on it. However, if your Christmas tree is still new then this may be unnecessary. But if it’s old, then this is definitely a requirement that you have to accomplish first of all.

When you are assembling your artificial Christmas tree, it might be good to put a white rug or carpet beneath it. This way, it would be easier for you to find any parts that have fallen off. For less hassles during the assembly, have the mat in its place as you are building the tree. Through this way, you would not easily lose some parts as you are connecting each of them in getting your Christmas tree ready.

With your Christmas tree up and embellished already, you may think that there is nothing anymore left to do but just to look at its beauty every time you are in the living room. The truth is that the work gets to be more necessary when the tree is on display. It is easy for the artificial Christmas tree to collect dust whilst it is standing in the living room for a few weeks. The best that you can do is to make certain that this is cleaned at least every week.

Not cleaning your Christmas tree would let the dust on it to accumulate. When that takes place, you and the rest of the household could be susceptible to conditions connected with dust inhalation. You may wonder why everyone sneezes every time they are in living room. They could become vulnerable to other health conditions too. If you wish to prevent these health complications from occurring, it may be necessary to regularly clean your Christmas tree, as well as your other decors.

When it’s time to dismantle your artificial Christmas tree, you may also have to clean it first before you store it somewhere. To do this well, segregate parts accordingly in different plastic bags. Not only would it be easy for you to reassemble it the next time you are about to use it. Doing this will also prevent the items from being dusty after a long time in the storage area. Of course, before doing so, you may be required to remove the dust from the parts first.

When it comes to choosing Christmas decors, an artificial Christmas tree is a great option, as compared to the real ones, in terms of time and budget. A lot of choices for Christmas shopping can be discovered when you click on the link provided.

Home Made Christmas Cards

It is an interesting hobby to make Christmas cards with Christmas cliparts. As these cards don’t require paying a bigger amount, despite that its ultimate effect is quite impressive and excellent. The ease of this project is due to inexpensive 3-D stickers featuring contemporary or vintage Christmas cliparts that you can get from a variety of sources. But don’t tell your friends who are going to receive the cards; they’re going to think you’re an artistic genius.

The materials you need, for the preparation of these Christmas cards with free cliparts are listed below:

Keep reasonable number of Cards and cliparts
You may find with similar envelops in the packets of 10 or 12, or in boxes with bigger quantities. You can use any size, but make sure your stickers look in proportion. And if you’re going to mail the cards and christmas holiday cliparts, make sure the size complies with U.S. Postal Service regulations. Although you can use shades of white or cream, your cards will be more distinctive if you use stronger colors and/or a background design.

Buy 3-D stickers to make the Christmas cards and cliparts. Flat stickers would not create a better impression, you can get the Christmas and Hanukkah stickers are available in the right column of this page and also at art supply stores, variety stores (such as Target), dollar stores or online, the rubber stamps with holiday messages and rubber stamp pad or ink (optional). There are a variety of pre-made stamps with holiday messages, or you could use a rotary stamp with letters that move so you can create your own message.

Bubble type wraps for mailing (non-compulsory)
Try to use evenly folded card stock, in case, you didn’t found you refold it yourself and crease it with your fingernail. If that looks sloppy, however, don’t use that card and move onto another one.

In case, you intend to mark an exclusive note within the case, do so, a little before you start to apply the stickers. It looks best to center your message from side to side, and slightly above center from top to bottom. You can use a ruler to make sure the distance from the edge on each side is the same. There may be times, however, when it might look better for the sticker to be slightly off-center, either from side to side or top to bottom. Let your eye be the guide if that’s the case.

Choose a sticker or a blend of stickers that appear fine ensemble. In case it is small think over pairing it with one or two more to create a design. Like the message inside, the sticker or sticker combination should sit centered from side to side, and slightly above center from top to bottom. If you want to include a stamped message under the stickers, be sure to allow room. Most stickers already have adhesive on them, so you won’t need glue. Be careful when you place the stickers; if you lay them down gently, you’ll be able to rearrange them until you get them into just the right spot. Once they’re where you want them, press hard to make sure they stay in place. If the sticker or combination of stickers isn’t secure, use a toothpick to carefully apply a drop or two of glue underneath to make sure everything stays put.

Home Made Christmas Cards

In case, you are supposed to send your cards by email, you may likely want to secure them with bubble wrap. Repeat for each card: Cut a piece of bubble wrap slightly smaller than your card, place it on top of the card and slide both pieces carefully into the envelope. This will ensure your card arrives looking as good as when you created it! For extra flair, use a colorful flat sticker on the back of the envelope to seal it.

How to Attract Hummingbirds

The very best way to attract hummingbirds is by using a nectar feeder. You must locate it high enough on a branch so that squirrels and other predators cannot feed from it. A combination of sugar and water is the very best way to attract them. This blend is as close as you can come to actual flower nectar. Do not use honey, molasses or any other artificial sweeteners. Though they eat small insects for protein, hummingbirds also count heavily on flowers and prepared nectar for their energy needs. You may be able to successfully attract them to a backyard feeder with a right combination of timing, consistency, and cleanliness.

Any feeder will attract hummingbirds. The features to look for in your hummingbird feeder are simplicity of cleaning, filling and personal style. You will want to get the basin-style hummingbirds feeders rather than the ones with the inverted bottle.

Most feeders are plastic. The newer feeders are made of ceramic or glass. If the hummingbirds do not always acknowledge the feeders as a source of food they may not come immediately to the feeder. Keep adding nectar to the feeder to entice them, but remember that hummingbirds need to learn to use the feeder after time.

If the birds in your backyard seem to prefer one style of feeder over another, it’s probably just a matter of being acquainted with a certain type of feeder. If you have lots of hummingbirds arriving at your feeder, you might want to increase the number of hummingbird feeders in your yard so it does not get too crowded.

The hummingbird feeder has to be clean ; otherwise you run the risk of the birds not feeding. It also needs to be colorful – preferably red and orange with red material connected to the feeder so it can be very easily identified by the hummingbird. There are a couple of different types of hummingbird feeders. The dish style has a perch and enables a good view of the way a hummingbird feeds . The gravity-fed bottle style feeder has no perch – and that eliminates the issue of other critters getting on it to feed.

Hummingbird feeders come in many different styles and shapes . Some are even superbly hand-blown glass bulbs that improve the charm of any backyard.

Here’s hoping you have some wonderful hummingbirds to watch soon!

Tia Pinney shows us how to create a quick and easy compost pile. Personally, I always like to add some worms to help the process along and their castings (fancy word for worm poop) are nutrient rich. Everything that goes into the pile doesn’t end up in the landfill – yea!

Tia Pinney is a Teacher Naturalist and Adult Program Coordinator at Mass Audubons Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary in Lincoln, Massachusetts.

garden, gardening, compost, how to, compost pile

I have decided my compost is not composting fast enough. How do I know this? I have no idea, but I do. So my new friends (the worms) have been called to duty. Apparently, they will cut my composting time in half, as they munch their way through last week’s lawn clippings. Then – why do I read the Internet – they will poop fertilizing nectar of the gods. For those of us garden types – worm poop is called “castings” and are high in Nitrogen. Apparently, this is a good thing.
