Rustic Living in Log Cabins

If you’re looking for somewhere new to live, you’ve probably got the traditional options covered: apartments, condos and houses. But why not consider something with a bit of edge? Something like… a lodge or log cabin. These offer a different kind of lifestyle to the norm. Generally in rural locations and made from natural materials, lodges offer a rustic, homely feel that’s conducive to a slower, more laidback pace to life, which could be ideal if you’re looking to de-stress.

If you’ve always dreamed of designing your own home to exactly match your needs and wants, then lodges and log cabins are fantastic options. You can create your own, bespoke design, giving you great control over how much you spend as well as what your house looks like. If design’s not your thing, then you can also get great kit-built lodges from a range of manufacturers. Then all you have to do is choose the perfect location to construct your new house.

Lodges and log cabins are particularly great for people who have always dreamed of building their own home as anyone with basic carpentry skills can do it. If you choose to get someone to build it for you, however, you are also guaranteed a superb product. Because they’re built to order, often a lot more care and attention goes into lodges than into regular houses, meaning you get to benefit from superior craftsmanship, which often leads to a higher resale value.

A good quality house also means that it will last for ages – centuries, probably. There are some early log cabins in Europe that have been standing strong for over 800 years. Lodges are also, on average, 15-20% more energy efficient than conventional houses, which is not only great for the environment but means that you’ll be paying much less on your heating and electricity bills, too. Lodges aren’t just snug and cozy in films – it translates to real life as well!

With a conventional house, there are a million things to think about to make sure your building is properly maintained – guttering, plumbing, leaky pipes, mildew, mould, unwanted creatures: the list is endless. Lodges and log cabins, in contrast, are easy to maintain. All you have to do is take a walk round your property to check the timber logs are okay. This makes it easy to catch any problems early and get them fixed, adding yet another reason to the list of why lodges are a great alternative living solution.

If you fancy a ready made lodge or log cabin, instead of taking the DIY approach, then try – Lodges Lancashire
