Fall Organizing Tips

As you get your home ready for winter, we thought we’d pass on these organizing tips to make your life a little easier . . .

  • Used fabric softener sheets are the perfect lint and static-free rags for cleaning CDs and DVDs. Handle CDs by the rim to cut down on fingerprints. The backside of the CD carries the information and is the side that needs cleaning. Use the dryer sheet and stroke out to the edge from the center of the CD, instead of a circular motion.
  • To clean a TV screen, use a lint-free cloth such as an old T-shirt. Spray the cloth with water (instead of spritzing the set itself) and wipe clean. Never use an abrasive substance on the screen. Never use window cleaner to clean a computer screen; stick to a lint-free cloth and consult with your monitor’s manual for the proper way to clean it.
  • By mounting a long magnet along the back of your medicine cabinet to hold tweezers, clippers, little scissors and other small metal objects, they will be easy to find.
  • Decluttering your desk erases unnecessary distractions and helps keep your mind on tasks that need immediate attention. Keep only the items on your desk that relate to your current projects and you’ll be more effective.
  • In the kitchen, stepped shelving makes use of the back space in a deep cabinet while drawer dividers keep utensils under control; and don’t forget to line up pot lids and flat cookware in a vertical rack for easy access and organized storage.
  • By cleaning the lint filter in your dryer after every load you will help improve air circulation

 Happy Autumn!
